さて、遅ればせながら、COGフォトアニュアル01巻末にも掲載されている編集長（ピーター / Peter DiAntoni）の挨拶をここに転載します。
発刊までの経緯等々、日本の読者の皆様に改めてCOG Magazineのことを理解して頂けたら幸いです。
It was in May, 2007 the idea for COG was hatched in Breakaway Bicycle Courier’s office, “base”. Eric, myself, Kevln and others gathered on the greasy couches and
threw ideas into the mix. Pretty quickly we realized we knew people spanning the
globe who are living with bicycles as we were. We reached out to them and they were
excited by our magazine Idea.
Weeks went by and we made calls, so many calls to fnends and companies and
companies of fnends and some of them too liked our idea, enough to even support it
through advertising!
We spent the summer compiling content and still making those calls. By September
we had built our first issue and were ready to roll with it. If nobody liked it, worst case scenario, we had a great summer art project that went nowhere. The people not only liked it, but love it!
Almost two years later we’ve sent copies all over the world and have made many
new friends and grown closer to our old ones through what has become a global
communal effort We couldn’t be more humbled by the amazing work our contributors
have provided for us…out of goodwill and the love for two wheels.
COG would not be much without them and without the support of our subscribers
advertisers and shop network around the world.
COG のアイデアは、2007年５月 Breakaway Bicycle Courier の事務所「Base」で生まれた。
Eric、僕、Kevinと他の何人かで、いつもの油で汚れたソファーに座って、皆でアイデアを出し合っていた。
すぐに僕らは、僕らと同じようにバイクと生活を共にしている仲間が、世界中にいる事に気付いた。彼らと連絡を取り、僕らの雑誌のアイデアを話すと、誰もが興奮した。
その後何週間か、僕らは友達や、企業や、友達の会社などに電話をかけまくって、彼らからの広告で雑誌を始められるだけの賛同を得る事ができた。
夏の間中、記事の編集に追われる最中、まだ電話もかけまくってた。９月までに用意ができて、創刊できることになった。
もし誰にも見向きもされない様な最悪の場合になっても、夏を使って、何の役にも立たない、でもちょっとした芸術作品が出来たって事だ。実際は見向きもされないどころか、大好評だった！
それから約２年間、僕らは世界中に雑誌を発送し、世界規模になったこの活動を通して、始める前にいた世界の友達と同じくらいの数の新しい友達ができた。
寄稿してくれてる人たちの好意と、自転車への熱意の表れであるそのすばらしい働きには敬服するばかりです。彼ら無しでは、また読者のみなさん、広告主、そして世界中のお店の支持が無ければ COG はありえません。
